Uncle Stevie pointed out the fact that Logan will share a birthday with the Lone Ranger, which I have to admit is much better than some of the alternatives. So, just for the heck of it, here are some other cool events that happened on the day that Logan should arrive:
1984 – First MTV music awards (hosted by Bette Midler & Dan Aykroyd)
1980 – “Charlie and Algernon” opens at Helen Hayes Theater New York City for 17 performances
1973 – President Nixon signed into law a measure lifting pro football’s “blackout”
1968 – 1st broadcast of “60 minutes” on CBS-TV
1968 – U.S.S.R.’s Zond 5 is launched on 1st circumlunar flight
1964 – Walt Disney awarded Medal of Freedom at White House
1960 – Chubby Checker’s “Twist” hits #1
1938 – Graf Zeppelin II, world’s largest airship, makes maiden flight
1886 – George K Anderson of Memphis, TN, patents typewriter ribbon
1868 – Golf’s 1st recorded hole-in-one (Tom Morris at Prestwick’s 8th hole)
1848 – Alexander Stewart opens 1st U.S. department store
1814 – Francis Scott Key inspired to write “Star Spangled Banner”
1741 – George Frederick Handel finishes “Messiah” oratorio, after working on it non-stop for 23 days
Looks like Logan didn’t like the 14th! The 12th is his great grandparents wedding anniversary (his Grandpop DiBlasi’s parents)! It is also his Great Aunt Mary’s birthday – should I mention that she is the first of 15 children!!
SO…since the little guy said to hell with Monday he now has landed on some new historical events including:
1846 – Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning elope
1953 – John F. Kennedy marries Jacqueline Bouvier
1963 – “Leave it to Beaver” ends
1972 – Hopalong Cassidy rides off into his last sunset
1988 – The Minivan cometh…
Logan now shares his birthday with Jesse Owens and tons of composers/musicians Hans Zimmer, Ben Folds, Jennifer Hudson, Ruben Studdard, Neal Peart (drummer of Rush), George Jones, and Barry White himself!!!
