First pediatrician visit

We had our first visit with the pediatrician today. Our doc was out of the office, but we had to meet with one of his counterparts to get Logan checked out. His birth weight was a point of contention in the hospital… the scale when he was born said 6 lbs +, but his weight the following day was 5 lbs. 5 oz. That drastic of a weight drop was pretty unlikely, so the docs concluded that the scale at birth was inaccurate, but he’s gotten lots of weigh-ins since then just to make sure he’s on track. After lots of debate, we’re thinking his initial birth weight was around 5 lbs, 7 oz.

But I digress… the docs had to weigh him this morning to make sure he wasn’t still drastically losing weight. He had actually gained 2 oz since yesterday, so we’re back on track (for the moment). They also had to check on a bit of jaundice that he has, so we’re anxiously awaiting test results from that. It was no fun to watch the multiple heel sticks they had to do to get enough blood to complete the test. However, it helped me to learn the difference between a standard scream and an “I’m in pain” scream, which I guess is a good thing to know. I just hope I don’t have to hear the latter one often.

This was our first venture with taking him out of the house, and overall things went well. I’m not exactly ready to attempt taking him to The 80s Team show on Saturday night, but we made it successfully out and back.
