Doc update

We’ve been to the pediatrician to test Logan’s jaundice levels every day since we made it home from the hospital. He’s had much higher levels than the docs liked over the past few days. Because of this, we’ve had to have him wrapped up in a special light. The alternative was re-admitting him to the hospital, so the light was preferable. Unfortunately, this meant that he was pretty much confined to one spot in the house (his swing). We were able to hold him while wrapped in the light, but it was pretty cumbersome.

You can get a glimpse of the light I’m talking about in the “Logan Sucks His Thumb” video. He has a glowing blue aura around him that’s coming from the light belt. We’ve made lots of jokes at his expense over the past few days – blue light special, smurf, etc.

Today’s visit to the pediatrician involved yet another heel stick – OUCH! – but the results were excellent. The jaundice is dropping due to the use of this crazy light, so we are now free to stop using it. Well worth the heel stick (in my opinion)! So Logan is a free kid again – able to sleep in his crib, be held by grandparents, and take his first bath.  We are very relieved & are eagerly watching his skin get less & less yellow with each passing day.
