Bring it on, 2007!

Only 48 hours into the New Year, and I’m happy to say the resolutions are still sticking!

Resolution #1 – Better time management. I’m assuming that the time management book I got for Christmas from Brandon was a not-so-subtle hint, and am working to more effectively manage my time (both at work and at home). So far, I’m doing okay, but tomorrow at work is going to be the true test. I see two huge barriers to succeeding with better time management in ’07: my tendency to make myself overly available to people, and my tendency to plan things (like a fabulous new time schedule) and then not follow through on them. Knowing these two barriers helps, since I can hopefully prevent the problems before they happen.

Resolution #2 – Set up short and long-term goals for myself and continue to monitor their progress throughout the year. I do this all the time at work, and it wasn’t until yesterday that it dawned on me to do it personally, too. After being in school for entirely too long, I’m used to goals being pre-set for me (make good grades, graduate with Bachelor’s and then Master’s degree, etc). It’s time to set some new short- and long-term goals and make them happen.

Good luck with your own resolutions… let’s all hope they last longer than last year’s! 🙂
