Finally, the kitchen renovation is complete!!
Over the past month and a half, we’ve been bringing our kitchen to the 21st century. This meant, first of all, restaining our way outdated cabinets. The cabinets were a blah beige that we’ve hated since the day we moved in. Since replacing all of them was a little out of our price range, we settled for sanding them down and restaining them.
That was a 2 week project that I was very relieved to see completed.
Next up was the new faucet. I picked that out before anything else in the kitchen, because I absolutely fell in love with it walking through Home Depot one day. I have no idea how it’s possible to fall in love with a faucet or what that says about me, but, whatever… it’s an awesome faucet.
After that came the new countertops. The old ones were whiteĆ laminate (yeah, stunning with the beige cabinets) and had 15 years worth of grime caked around the horrendous corner sink. The biggest perk to changing the countertops was definitely getting rid of the old sink. It’s still a corner sink, but at least it’s undermount now, and fits most of our large pans.
So, granite countertops were the biggest splurge for us. Despite some problems with the granite company (namely, them cutting extra holes in our granite and then finding a way to fix it), the countertops are now in and stunning.
While we were waiting on the new countertops, I painted the kitchen and bought new curtains…. and now, voila, new kitchen!
