The Country Music Half Marathon is scheduled for April 26, 2008. Lots of folks from work are running it, as well as some friends from outside the office. I had been planning on running it right up until I screwed up my knee during the Disney Marathon.
It’s been 5 weeks since then, so I’m wanting to get back out and run just to see how it feels. I’ve been a total slacker since the marathon; given the knee problems, I didn’t want to hurt anything worse than I already had. So, I’ve managed to run not a single step since January 13.
I’m hoping that publicly stating my intentions to run the half marathon will make me feel more accountable at 6 am in the morning when I don’t want to get out of bed and run. It’s snowing outside right now, so tomorrow morning is probably not the day to attempt this, but my goal is to get out and run before Friday of this week. Assuming all goes well, I’ll attempt a long(er) run this weekend and see what happens. If I can get out there and put in some miles starting this week, I’ll feel more comfortable about signing up for the race.
